Cockroach Janata Party started as a satirical digital movement but has now become one of the biggest online discussions in India. With over 14 million Instagram followers in a very short time, CJP has transformed from memes and sarcasm into a wider conversation around youth issues, unemployment, accountability, and digital activism.
The movement gained momentum after controversial remarks comparing some unemployed youth to “cockroaches,” triggering strong reactions across social media. Led by Gen-Z energy, humour, and online mobilisation, many are now asking whether internet-driven movements can influence real political change in India, similar to developments seen in other countries.
But one fact remains clear: CJP is currently not an officially recognised political party under the Election Commission of India.
