New Delhi: In a landmark move to prioritize women’s safety, the Joint Security Innovation Centre has proudly announced the formation of the Task Force on Women’s Security. This initiative, unveiled by Shri Kunwar Vikram Singh, Chairman of CAPSI (Central Association of Private Security Industry), aims to devise innovative strategies and implement effective measures to ensure the safety and security of women.
The task force will be spearheaded by the distinguished Wing Commander Sonika Tanwar, supported by an accomplished team of professionals, including Veena Gupta, Asha Pathania, Adv Neyha Chaudhary, Rekha Gairola, and Rinku Lamba. Their collective expertise and dedication are expected to drive meaningful change in addressing women’s security concerns.
The inaugural meeting was held at Constitution Club of India, Rafi Marg, New Delhi on January 10. During the meeting, key issues surrounding women’s security were discussed, and the groundwork was laid for actionable plans and strategies to create a safer environment for women across the country.
Chairman Shri Kunwar Vikram Singh expressed pride in this initiative, stating that it reflects CAPSI’s unwavering commitment to fostering collaboration and innovation for a safer and more secure society for women.
Wing Commander Sonika Tanwar, leader of the task force, shared her deep commitment to the mission:
“Today is not just a gathering; it’s the start of a movement. A mission to build a society where parents no longer fear for their daughters, where no woman has to map her safety before stepping out, and where the gender of a child is no longer a factor of fate.”
She continued with a poignant reflection on the nation’s collective heartbreak, recalling the devastating news of the Nirbhaya case. “Can you recall the night the news of Nirbhaya broke your heart? The helpless rage, the silent tears, the unshakable pit in your stomach? As a mother, perhaps you held your daughter closer, silently asking, ‘How do I shield her from such a world?’”
She expressed her gratitude to Shri Kunwar Vikram Singh, Lt Gen Ashok Bhim Shivane, Shri Mahesh Chand Sharma (Secretary General, CAPSI) and the entire CAPSI team for not only initiating but also guiding this crucial movement.
