New Delhi/Ladakh: The Union Cabinet has approved the setting up of a bench of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir in Ladakh, a move aimed at improving access to justice for residents of the Union Territory's remote areas.
Announcing the decision on X, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the Cabinet, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had approved the bench to reduce the time required for citizens of Ladakh to avail themselves of legal services they are entitled to. He said the decision reflected the government's commitment to the all-round development of Ladakh and to ensuring constitutional safeguards for the region.
