Under Shock Due To Election Loss Counsel Unavailable Madhya Pradesh High Court Adjourns Case

Jabalpur: The Madhya Pradesh High Court has adjourned a writ appeal after noting that the arguing counsel for the appellant was unavailable, being “under shock” following her loss in the election to the High Court Bar Association.

A Bench of Justice Vivek Agarwal and Justice Avanindra Kumar Singh was hearing WA No. 961 of 2023, Dashrath Kumar v. Principal Secretary to Governor of Madhya Pradesh and Others, along with connected matters WA/425/2023, WA/445/2023, WA/446/2023 and WA/786/2023, when Smt. Rajni Mishra, learned counsel appearing for the appellant, sought an adjournment.

Recording the reason for the request, the Court observed: “It appears that under shock due to loss in election to the High Court Bar Association, arguing counsel is not available today.” On the counsel's request, the Court listed the matter for 20th August 2026, and directed that the interim relief already granted would continue till that date.
