New Delhi: The Delhi High Court Bar Association has requested its members to wear black ribbons while appearing in court on 12.10.2026, as a mark of solidarity with the lawyers who, according to the Association, were manhandled during a protest on 10.10.2026, and to register their strong protest against what it described as the excessive and disproportionate use of force by the police against members of the legal fraternity.
The request was made in a notice dated 11.10.2026 issued by the Executive Committee of the Association, signed by its Hony. Secretary, Vikram Singh Panwar. The notice states that it is in continuation of the Association's Resolution dated 10.10.2026, which condemned the illegal detention of lawyers and excessive use of force during peaceful protests.
The notice asks members to wear black ribbons on the next day, i.e. 12.10.2026, while appearing in the court, and ends by requesting members to co-operate. The notice does not give details of the protest or of the incidents referred to, and these allegations are those of the Association.
The notice carries the names of the Association's office bearers, including President N. Hariharan, Senior Advocate, Vice-President Sacchin Puri, Senior Advocate, Hony. Secretary Vikram Singh Panwar, Treasurer Kanika Singh and Joint Secretary Kunal Malhotra, along with the members of the Executive Committee.
